The 2011 Winter Universiade, the XXV Winter Universiade, is scheduled to take place in Erzurum, Turkey. Erzurum is the city at the highest altitude in Turkey (1850m), and has over 320 cultural landmarks. Located in eastern Turkey, it is a city on the traditional silk road and has been governed by many cultures over the years.

The cities of Erzurum and Maribor, Slovenia were the two bidders for the Games. FISU announced the host on January 16, 2007 in Turin, Italy, just prior to the 23rd Edition of the Games.[1]

  • Cross Country/Biathlon--Dumlu District--completed in 2009
  • Ski Jumping (five towers)--Kiremitlik Tepe--completed in 2009
  • Speed Skating/Figure Skating--Palandöken and Atatürk University--completed in 2008/2009
  • Curling--Yenişehir Convertible Rink--Completed in 2009

The farthest venue is Cross Country/biathlon, which is only 20km from the city.
