The 2007 PetroSun Independence Bowl, part of the 2007-08 NCAA football bowl games season, took place on December 30, 2007 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The competing teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide, representing the Southeastern Conference, and the Colorado Buffaloes, from the Big 12 Conference. Alabama won the game, 30-24.

This was the only 2007-08 bowl game in which both teams finished 6-6 on the regular season.[4] It was also the first bowl game for both respective head coaches (Nick Saban and Dan Hawkins) at their current programs.

  • Cody Hawkins threw an interception on Colorado's first offensive play of the game.
  • Colorado attempted a fake punt with a "hidden ball" or "fumblerooski" type play at the end of their second drive a mid-field in the first quarter which failed to covert by one yard.
  • Alabama partially blocked a punt in the second quarter.
  • Alabama's John Parker Wilson threw an interception in the second quarter.
  • Colorado's kicker, Kevin Eberhart, missed a 48-yard field goal with 9:48 left in the third quarter.
  • Alabama's wide receiver, Caddell, fumbled the ball after a reception which Colorado recovered near mid-field in the third quarter. Offensive guard Mike Johnson forced a fumble during the return but the ball went out of bounds.
