Zayd (زيد) also transliterated as Zaid or Zeid and in very special cases "Seyd" is an Arabic name, meaning abundance or growth or "one who progresses and makes other people progress". Not to be confused with the name Sa'id.
A famous person named Zayd in Islam is Zayd ibn Harithah, who was the orphan boy fostered by Muslim Prophet Muhammad, who treated him as his own son to the extent that he was called 'Zaid Ibn Muhammad', which means 'Zaid the son of Muhammad'. "Zaid Ibn Muhammad" is also the only Sahaba mentioned by name in the Qur'an.
