[edit] Luxury vehicle

I would like you to explain the reason that you removed my link to http://www.ultraluxurycar.com from the "Luxury vehicle" article. I am not trying to make a "directory of links". I believe that my web site complies with Wikipedia says about external linking: "Adding external links can be a service to our readers, but they should be kept to a minimum of those that are meritable, accessible and appropriate to the article." If you would like to remove links, there are three magazines (two of which are owned by the same company) that all have links. There are currently no links to informational web sites about luxury cars. Do you think that it is fair that three magazines have their links, while an informational web site does not? Lastly, the link does not violate any of the restrictions that Wikipedia has made, but it does fulfill all the qualifications that they have made for what to link.
Wikipedia tries to keep links to a minimum. Only links that are very exceptional are kept. If you can convince others that the link is vital to that page, it can probably be added back. Start with the article's talk page. In the meantime, my specific concern is with "informational site". You seem to claim that the site is rich in information that is lacking from the article. The problem is that we don't add information to Wikipedia via external links. We add content by adding properly verified text to Wikipedia. WP:EL says to avoid "...[a]ny site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article."
As for the other links, I didn't see them added. It is possible that they, too, should be removed. However Inclusion of one spam link is not a reason to include another.
Finally, your use of the words "my web site" suggests that you are the owner of that site. You might also want to look at our notes on conflicts of interest. --Mdwyer 02:25, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Top Gear (current format)

Hi. You've recently edited out a WP link on the Top Gear page, namely Anne Hathaway's Cottage. I cannot see how the article would be improved by the removal of this clarifying link, and have reinstated it. If you have a convincing explanation for the benefits of its excision, please advise, on my talk page or on the article's. ↔ Dennywuh 12:09, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

You say you removed the link because it was talking about a car but pointed to Shakespeare's wife. The paragraph explains how in the episode in question they modify the interior of a car to resemble an old English cottage, and how they name the result after Anne Hathaway's home. As many Wikipedia readers will not be familiar with traditional English architecture or recognise the name of Shakespeare's wife, and due to the existence of a young US actress of the same name, a link was included to clarify and illustrate the issue. That is what WP is for, enlightenment and learning; by removing the link you demean other editors' hard work. ↔ Dennywuh 13:52, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lotus Esprit

I see the anoraks still want to put LEF in. Just remind them that (a) they haven't established a consensus (b) forums are explicitly regarded as poor external links (c) Dan still hasn't edited anything outside of this article and (d) I'll be back on that Talk page in a week or so. I have been purging forums and groups from ext links sections as Dan suggested. And I haven't changed my mind. If you really want a laugh go and look at Dan's post here. Whiney whiney whiney. [edit] Personal attack

Hi Zach, You accused me of a personal attack. I think you misinterpreted my comments. You objected to "Zach4636 is wrong" -- The full quote was 'Zach4636 is wrong, saying "but there is a strong possibility that he is British" is not encyclopedic.' "A strong possibility" is not encyclopedic, that is WP policy and that was my point. Mark83 (talk) 01:42, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism Undo

My change to "Maserati Coupé" was not vandalism, it was a redirect to a new location for the same content that was significantly updated.Spyderman1 (talk) 21:33, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Why do the Las Vegas area casinos say they are in Paradise, Nevada?

If that is the guideline then why don't the Orlando resorts state the specific city that they are in? 74.163.224.123 (talk) 19:01, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
