[edit] YES Network HD?

Do we really need a separate article on this? Very little info, which can be integrated into the main article. Morgan Wick 04:25, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] YES HD is YES

YES HD is a simuelcast, which means it isn't a true standalone channel like Discovery HD Theater or the NBC Universal HD nets.

If it hasn't been merged by Friday, or better evidence isn't provided, I will merge it myself.

Milchama 12:02 10 March 2006

Even though YES HD is a simulcast, i beleive it should have its own page. Here's why: Even as a simulcast it shouldn't be included into the main YES network article. I mean, it's its own channel. And as such, the YES Network HD deserves its own page. In my experience, only local channels provide straightforward simulcasts. Most "cable HD simulcast channels" are semi-simulcast, in the sense that not every program is upconverted from its original format. Although a stub, in time it will seperate more and more from just being a straigtforward simulcast. I am open to criticsm. -- Sam916 05:18, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Look at the dispute on whether to add DT pages for local TV stations. This is very similar. In January 2009, all analog TV broadcast signals will cease to exist. At that time, it will make sense to change, for example, the page for WCBS-TV to WCBS-DT.

Now the HD dispute is similar. Evenually the HD channels will replace the analog networks, including YES.

The only reasoning for YES HD to be a separate page would be if the programming was different than YES proper, and not just the fact that its broadcast in HD. However, that is not the case.

Milchama 15:40 11March, 2006

This page probably doesn't belong in Category:HD channels anymore. Should it warrant a new category, "Channels offered in HD"? Or am I misunderstanding this category? Morgan Wick 03:14, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Costs

Why no mention of this? Or the fact it costs everyone quite a bit per month? J. M. 05:39, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

  • YES is on basic or expanded basic, so while the individual cost has been speculated at over $2.00 per month, it is officially unknown to the public.

[edit] FSN

Doesn't the "branded" YES logo look like the FSN logo?

[edit] Edit war?

I hate these things, but there seems to be an edit war between myself and NYYankee2684 over this article. He as made changes in the past that are filled with redundancies and spelling errors, and I have cleaned it up every time. He thanks me for reverting back to his version every time. Now, it is my belief that NYYankee2684 is using an alias IP address, "24.48.98.59", to further vandalize this page. Edits made by both NYYankee2684 and the IP are similar in both subject and style. The IP also left an uncivil remark directed at me in an edit summary after one of their revertions of the YES Network article. This "user" has also blanked out their talk page, making the connection that much more obvious to me. I have undid the previous revertion again, and have asked administrator Firsfron for assistance. Rollosmokes 17:46, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

If you really dislike edit wars, you can reduce the rate of their incidences by trying to de-escalate the situation, and not referring to good-faith edits as vandalism. I appreciate that you have taken the time to discuss the dispute here. Let's see what NYYankee has to say. For now, the page is protected, and cannot be modified. I will keep a watch on events. For the record, it is obvious that NYY is also 24.48.98.59. Firsfron of Ronchester 19:09, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Updates 6/3/07

The New York Yankees Pre-Game Show and New York Yankees Post-Game Show are both original programing. They have just as much right to be there as Yankeeography and Yankees Batting Practice Today. Also we could move Yankees Baseball on YES to a new spot in the article but it gives new info not listed in the article. I would really like it if Rollosmokes could respond with their thoughts on the subject before we get into another edit war. (See Above) NYYankee2684 18:33, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

First, I question why these programs need articles of their own. Second, just putting them in tha article is redundant. As I mentioned, it's all common sense: what regional sports network doesn't do pre- and post-game programming?
While I recognize the place the Yankees (and, unless you forgot, the Nets) have on YES, I don't believe creating separate articles for the pre- and post-game programs, and another for the separate game telecast, is necessary. What new or separate information can one get from those articles that can't be found on the main YES Network article? I'm gonna request all three of these article be deleted, and I'm removing the links again. Rollosmokes 23:35, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] YES and Yankee radio broadcasts

I have removed all references to YES' involvement with Yankee radio broadcasts. I'm not sure why it's taken me five years to realize this, but on the English-language side, WCBS and not YES owns the rights and produces the broadcasts.

All one needs is to listen to the credits at the end of the game broadcast, when John Sterling says, "New York Yankees Baseball is a production of WCBS Newsradio 880 and the New York Yankees." Also, the radiocast pretty much NEVER plugs the YES Network or any of its programming. When MSG Network had the rights (they purchased the time on WABC), you heard mentions of SportsDesk or other MSG programming either through a promo or a live commercial read.

I'll put back the lines about YES' Spanish-language SAP feed airing over WKDM, which I inadvertantly erased. Rollosmokes 07:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:YES Network.jpg

Image:YES Network.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
