Sonia Noemi, "Sonia Noemí González" July 14, 1941, born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, is an actress and singer, who's one of the pioneers of Puerto Rican television.

[edit] Early years
Sonia was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico's second most populous city, which is also known as "El Pueblo del Chicharrón" (Fried Pig Skin City), located on the northern coastal valley of the island. In 1958, at the early age of 17, she was already one the stars of the musical television show broadcasted by Telemundo: "El Show Ford", with:Tito Lara & the Puerto Rican vocal quartet, "Los Hispanos".

On September 3, 1965, Sonia Noemí, married a Venezuelan singer Hector Cabrera, and moved to Venezuela. Years later, Sonia divorced Cabrera, and in the early 1970s, she married again, this time to the Cuban actor and producer Guillermo De Cun. In the early 1980s, Sonia divorced de Cun.

Alfred D. Herger, was the producer of her first album: "Si Yo Fuera una Reina", (If I were a Queen), *Sona-Rico, SR-1*. Sonia's hit single was: "El rebelde", a Spanish version of the hit song: "He's a Rebel", from The Crystals.
In 1965, Noemí, recorded her second album with RCA-Victor record label, in Mexico: "Baladas y boleros", (Ballads & Boleros), *MKL - 1626*. The hit single was "El Día", (The Day), written by the Mexican composer: "Luis Demetrio".
In 1966, she recorded her third album, and second for RCA-Victor, in Mexico, named after her: Sonia Noemí, *MKL - 1627*.
In 1986, Noemí, recorded her fourth album: "En Mi Regreso", (In My Come Back) produced by Lou Briel, *LAG, LP-1010*.

Noemí, performed the leading roles of three films: "Dios te Salve Siquiatra", (May God Save you, Psychiatrist), the first Cuban motion picture filmed in the United States (Miami, Florida), produced and directed by Cuban comedian: Guillermo Alvarez Guedes, in 1966, "El Curandero del Pueblo", (The Healing-man of the Town), starring with, Adalberto Rodriguez, "Machuchal", in 1968, and Creature from the Haunted Sea, a Roger Corman film.

During the 1960s she performed in several live soap operas in Telemundo Puerto Rico, alongside Braulio Castillo, such as El Derecho de Nacer, (The Right to be Born). In the 1970s, Sonia was part of the star cast of Guillermo De Cun's production company called: "Producciones Comediante" (Comedian Productions), in WAPA-TV, performing leading roles in several television situation comedies and drama series such as: "Escenario", (Stage), "Tres Chicas de Hoy", (Three young ladies of Today) & "Soltero y sin Compromiso", (Single & not Engaged).
In the 1980s she continued acting leading roles in various WAPA-TV mini-series, produced by Elin Ortiz, such as: "Plaga o Destino", (Plague or Destiny), "El Regreso de Gina", (The Return of Gina) with Charytin, and "Las Divorciadas", (The Divorced Women),with Alba Raquel Barros. In 1994 she made a special appearance in the soap opera, "Señora Tentación" (Lady Temptation), with Mexican actress: Lucia Mendez, broadcasted by Telemundo.

In 1983, she hosted, for several years, with Hector Marcano, and Rafael Jose, the Puerto Rican Game TV show: "A Millón", (Play the Million $$$), the #1 television series of the era, and the first television show produced by Luisito Vigoreaux, initiating his long career as a producer, broadcasted by WAPA-TV.

Presently, Sonia Noemí, lives in Miami, Florida, and has performed in Telemundo NBC Universal's soap operas, such as: El Cuerpo del Deseo, (The Body of Desire) with Andres Garcia, Mario Cimarro, and Lorena Rojas, & Tierra de Pasiones, (Land of Passion), with Gabriela Spanic. Sonia has also had leading roles in the Telemundo NBC Universal drama serial: Decisiones (Decisions).
