Goskino (Russian: Госкино) is the abbreviated name for the USSR State Committee for Cinematography (Государственный комитет по кинематографии СССР) in the Soviet Union and the State Committee of Russian Federation for Cinematography (Государственный комитет Российской Федерации по кинематографии) in the modern Russia, both being the supreme government organs in charge of the cinematography [1].

It was absorbed by the USSR Ministry of Culture in 1953 but became an independent organization again in 1963.
It performed both general management and censorship functions.
[edit] Post-Soviet Russia
On September 30, 1992 the Committee of Russian Federation for Cinematography was created, which was called Roskomkino (Роскомкино). By a decree of August 14, 1996 it was made from "Committee" into the "State Committee".
