[edit] Summary

Español: El disco de Phaistos

Large image of the Phaistos disk.

This image shows a replica of the original Phaistos disk (left: side B, right: side A). It is not an exact copy. The strokes ("thorns") are missing, as are the scribe's corrections. Some symbols look significantly different than on the original.

The photo was taken on 25 May 2003 by Maksim. It is released under the GFDL.

THIS IS AN AMATURE ASSUMTION, NOTHING SAID IS FACT ONLY THEORETICAL OPINIONS MADE BY ME! Each Disk has 30 segments; excluding the one one the right disk that has a symbol unlike anyother. I assume these disk are equivelent to modern calenders and the extra symbol is like our 31 days in some months. The Outer Ring of Symbols on the disk's are both twelve, than there is an inner smaller ring of 9 segments that over laps or comes close to the begining line; the beginning line is the line closest to the four circles on a line. There is a 3rd ring containing 6 aditional segements and a 4th and most innner ring containing a final 3 segments. as you can see on the Disk to the right that the ending lines of the rings do not match up as closely as the ones on the left. This results in a 31st segment. I assume this is a calander of days in the cycle of the moon. Beginning in the center or the 4 circles, it is clear that there are 30-31 days and 4 weeks in each Disk, the weeks consisting of 12,9,6 &3 all decreasing in increments of three.

I also assume, again these are assumtions not a professional analysis, that the symbols are pictographs of: what maybe acomplished or, what must be acomplished or, what was acomplished each day. Including War, Food, Deaths, Famon, Crops, and many other easily deciferable sybols.
