Paul Noyes was the first head college football coach for the Northwestern University Wildcats located in Evanston, Illinois and he held that position for the 1893 season. His career coaching record at Northwestern was 2 wins, 5 losses, and 3 ties. This ranks him 22nd at Northwestern in total wins and 19th at Northwestern in winning percentage.[1]
Northwestern did play football before Noyes was the head coach and there are claims that Knowlten Ames was the first coach at Northwestern, not Noyes.[citation needed]
