Osvaldo Hurtado

Osvaldo Hurtado Larrea (born June 26, 1939) was President of Ecuador from 24 May 1981 to 10 August 1984. Hurtado was born in Chambo Chimborazo, Ecuador. He was elected vice-president in the 1979 elections, which followed a long period of military rule. Hurtado became President of Ecuador in 1981 when President Jaime Roldós died in a plane crash, and served out the rest of Roldós's term.
