[edit] Please check on Hepatitis B vaccine

I wikified, cleaned-up, and added references to Hepatitis B vaccine. Let me know what you think it needs at this point. Good catch, too. ManVhv 02:49, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect of The Undercity

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Undercity, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Undercity is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Undercity, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CSDWarnBot 14:40, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tiny diction point

I noticed at the Math reference desk you using the phrase "for all intensive purposes"; the usual phrase is "for all intents and purposes". Just thought you might want to know. --Tardis 17:12, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah, thanks :) I'm sure I was probably told that before too, but I guess bad habits are hard to break. -- MacAddct  1984 (talkcontribs) 23:23, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FAR for Macintosh

Macintosh has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here.

That's the templated message, anyway. I'm not the one who nominated it—I'm going to try to improve it—but I thought you might like to know.--HereToHelp 01:09, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] U+F8FF

So what do the poor non-Mac users see for the  in your signature? :-) —Steve Summit (talk) 03:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Haha, I was actually curious about that and wikipedia does have an article on it U+F8FF. Unfortunately everything turns up as the Apple logo for me. On my Windows computer at work, I just see a question mark :-\ -- MacAddct  1984 (talkcontribs) 04:20, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AMNH tour

We need to get a preliminary head-count for the AMNH tour happening before the meet-up. If you think you would like to go, please sign up at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC#AMHN tour sign-up. Thanks! ScienceApologist (talk) 03:01, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vote for a post-meetup restaurant

I'm charged with making the reservations for us, so let's make it official. We'll do this via voting and everyone including anonymous voters, sockpuppets, and canvassed supporters is enfranchised. Voting irregularities and election fraud are encouraged as that would be really amusing in this instance. Please vote for whichever restaurant you would like to eat at given the information provided above and your own personal prejudices at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC#Let's make it official. The prevailing restaurant will be called first for the reservation. If a reservation cannot be obtained at the winning restaurant, the runner-up restaurant will be called thus making this entire process pointless. Voting ends 24 hours after this timestamp (because I said so). ScienceApologist (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Me and bible issues

I'd describe myself as a rationalist and historian, meaning I don't believe the bible has supernatural origins, and I'm interested in its history. I think John comes from pretty much the same direction. Hope this answers yuour question. PiCo (talk) 01:46, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Conclusion section

As a rule, I think there should never be a "conclusion" to an encyclopedia article. Conclusions are for essays that advance a thesis, not for expositions that seek to simply describe verifiable facts. ScienceApologist (talk) 16:23, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

If this is indeed a "fair summary" of the article, then it should go in an overview section rather than at the end. ScienceApologist (talk) 17:03, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:LostS02E01MoSMoF.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:LostS02E01MoSMoF.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:40, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] You are invited!

New York City Meetup

Next: Sunday March 16th, Columbia University area
Last: 1/13/2008
This box: view  talk  edit

In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, and have salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).

Well also make preparations for our exciting Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, a free content photography contest for Columbia University students planned for Friday March 28 (about 2 weeks after our meeting).

In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.

You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.

You're also invited to subscribe to the public Wikimedia New York City mailing list, which is a great way to receive timely updates.
This has been an automated delivery because you were on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 03:11, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reverting vandalism

Hi there. I noticed you did some reverting at Talk:Arthropod. First you reverted one edit that was vandalism [1]. Reverting vandalism is generally better than leaving it, but we always have to make sure we are reverting to a good version, otherwise it might well be a worse version we are reverting to. You seemed to realize this and you then undid an edit by the previous editor [2], also an IP and a vandal. The problem is, once again, you didn't look at the history. The version before that was also by the same IP, and also contained vandalism. So I think you need to improve on your reverting skills a little.

Please look out for this sort of thing, and do as I'm doing to you and tell other users when they don't do it properly. It's embarrassing how poor Wikipedia is at dealing with vandalism, and the arthropod article I'm talking about doesn't even seem to have anyone maintaining it (why wouldn't this be noticed if there was?) Richard001 (talk) 08:34, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of User talk:Fark Sucks

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. E Wing (talk) 01:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
