Jason Dawe (b. 29 May 1973 in North York, Ontario) was a professional ice hockey player in the National Hockey League.

[edit] Playing career

  • 1990/91 - Jason Dawe was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft in the second round, 35th overall. Dawe came off an impressive season with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. He scored 43 goals, and 70 points, which was 2nd on the team.
  • 91/92 – 53 goals and 108 points, the best on the Petes. He tied for 2nd in goals in the OHL, 2 goals behind Darren McCarty.
  • 92/93 – 58 goals and 126 points. He was 3rd in goals, and once again in the top 10 in points. In the playoffs, Dawe scored 51 points in 21 games, and after the OHL playoffs, signed an entry level deal with the Sabres. He finished the season with the Rochester Americans, the Sabres AHL team.
  • 93/94 - split between Rochester Americans and Buffalo Sabres. With injures to Sabre players Craig Simpson and Pat LaFontaine, Dawe was called up to the club, but was unimpressive.
  • 94/95 - The NHL lockout caused a split season for Dawe:
    • first half (Rochester Americans) 27 goals and 46 points.
    • second half (Buffalo Sabres) played the majority of the time on the third and fourth line.
  • 95/96 – 50 points in 67 games. This was the best season of his NHL career, under the guidance of head coach Ted Nolan.
  • 96/97 – 48 points in 82 games, another good season under Nolan.
  • 97/98 - Ownership changes brought in a new general manager, Darcy Regier, who replaced Nolan with Lindy Ruff as head coach. Dawe and other players were reputedly adversely affected by Nolan's exit. At the start of the season, however, Dawe looked solid scoring 13 goals in the first 21 games, but only 6 goals in the next 47 games. At the trade deadline, the Sabres traded Dawe to the New York Islanders in exchange for enforcer Paul Kruse and defenceman Jason Holland. Dawe had 3 points in 13 games with the Islanders to finish the season.
  • 98/99 - the last season of Dawe's NHL Career, he appeared in 59 games with the Islanders, and the Montreal Canadiens.
  • 99/00 - Dawe was signed by the Nashville Predators, but spent 47 games with the IHL's Milwaukee Admirals. Dawe was traded to the New York Rangers for Minor Leaguer defenceman Evgeny Namestnikov and spent the rest of the season with the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL.
  • 00/01 and 01/02 - Wolfpack but one appearance with the New York Rangers.
  • 02/03 - Signed to the AHL's Worcester IceCats, the AHL Team of the St. Louis Blues.
  • 03/04 - Played the first part of the season in the SM-liiga, in Finland; he then signed again for the Rochester Americans. He was not called to play for the Sabres and was released after that season.
  • 04/05 - He played for the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL.
  • He has not played professional hockey since.
