Jack Robert Howell (born August 18, 1961 in Tucson, Arizona), is a former Major League Baseball third baseman. He is currently the field coordinator for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Howell played for three different ballclubs during his career, the California Angels (1985-1991, 1996-1997), San Diego Padres (1991), and Houston Astros (1998-1999). He made his Major League Baseball debut on May 20, 1985, and played his final game on July 17, 1999.
And played in Japan, Yakult Swallows (1992-1994), and Yomiuri Giants (1995). Led Central League Home Runs (1992), and Batting Average (1992). Named Most Valuable Player (1992). And recorded Cycle Hits (July 29, 1993).
On September 5, 1987, Howell hit a home run off Tim Stoddard. Ironically, he broke his bat as he hit the ball resulting in a broken bat home run.
