"Island Of Lost Souls" is a song recorded by Blondie and released as a single in April of 1982. It was the first single released from The Hunter, their first studio album since 1980s Autoamerican. 1981 had seen Debbie Harry recording her first solo album Koo Koo with Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of the band Chic. The album was a failure both critically and commercially and was quickly followed by the band's first hits compilation The Best of Blondie which managed to restore their popularity. The success of their 1980 reggae hit "The Tide Is High" encouraged Blondie to write another reggae song and release it as the lead single for The Hunter, however the band had come under scrutiny and they were unable to revive the success of the previous album.[1] The result was that "Island of Lost Souls" peaked at #37 in the Billboard Hot 100, it however managed to do reasonably well in the United Kingdom where it peaked at #11 in the UK Singles chart[2] and was their last hit before their reunion 17 years later in 1999 with Maria.
