[edit] Career
[edit] Ismaily
Hosny started his professional football career at Ismaily in Egypt, and was the youngest player in the Egyptian first division when Ismaily won the League Championship in the season 2001/2002. In 2003 Hosni joined the Egyptian U-20's in the FIFA World Youth Championship 2003 in the Arab Emirates. In this tournament he caught the eyes of big clubs in Europe such as Juventus,Trabzonspor,Arsenal, and also sides such as Nantes, and Strasbourg, but his club Al-Ismaily refused to release him from his contract.
At the end of 2003, he played in the Arabian Club Championship final but lost, achieving the same result in the African Champions League. In 2004 Hosni was selected for the first time in his career to play for the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia and was one of the youngest players in the tournament.
[edit] Strasbourg
In summer 2005, Hosny signed a five year contract with Racing Club Strasbourg. He was called up for the Egypt squad for the 2006 African Cup of Nations but was injured just one week before the tournament started and could not play. The Egyptian team eventually went on to win the tournament against the Ivory Coast.
[edit] Return home
In the 2005-06 season, Strasbourg were relegated to Ligue 2. Hosny then left the team on loan, returning to Al-Ismaily for a season. The move was made effective after the loan's end.
Due to his impressive performances with the Egyptian national team in the ACN 2008 tournament, Hosni has once again caught the eye of a number of European clubs, notably Newcastle United FC, Bolton Wanderers FC and Paris Saint Germain.
[edit] El Ahly
On May 21st 2008 the CAS has ruled out the claims of The Club Al-Ismaily and that the player is to play for Strasbourg, and so the player will move to El Ahly due to the contract between Strasbourg and El Ahly Club Starting next year eather Al-Isamily Club likes it or not. "HOSNY ABD RABO IS NOT FOR ISMAILY BY ANY CHANCE HE IS FOR AL AHLY" Strasbourg official. As a rejection to this decision ,a day later Hosni declared "I will not play for any team in Egypt other than Al-Ismaily" , He also sent to Strasbourg F.C to end his contract according to the rules of FIFA and now (till 5th June 2008 )he is waiting for the FIFA to decide a penalty on him, Which might be a $400,000 or suspension up to 4 months or both .
Hosni continues to train with Ismaily, and has said he will fulfill his contract with Ismaily once FIFA agrees on his contract termination with Strasbourg. He hopes to go straight to Europe after that.
