Hi Devan, I don't know if I'm doing this right but I wanted to reply to your message. First, I appreciate all of your efforts as it must have taken you months to do it all. Maybe I'm having a brain cramp, but how is it possible for the Sting to lose in the OPJHL League Semi-final which involves the final four teams, yet they are listed as finishing 8th? My only guess is that they finished the regular season with the 8th best record and the fact they went deep into the playoffs isn't a factor. If so then I stand corrected. Thanks for any clairification on this. Also I removed Gary Lavendar from the Wellington Dukes GM spot as he has passed away and a new GM has been announced I believe but I'm not sure who. [Bundyman]

Hey, just thought I'd let you know, as a member of the Executive, that yes, the Renegades are up and running...According to our President, he is going with the North Shore name...even putting it out on sponsorship flyers and on the jerseys. BTW..the name non-change is a result of one cost cutting measure in start-up. The jerseys only have 1 year worn in the case of the blues, and 2 games in case of the whites. I don't know if our third jersey will still be the Maple Leafs alternate, which was our home jersey between 2000 and 2003. I added some more stuff in the article, a alternate logo I was comissioned to make back in the Junior "B" days, as well as pictures of Marathon Arena and Terrace Bay Recreation Centre. Actually, You might get in touch with Denis Leduc, who has been with the team since the beginning, he may have the stats...he's listed in the Marathon phone book...or Paul Dick...who was league statistician for a while. I talked to Paul...he has stats from seasons 4-8 of the NSHL...will get them this weekend...also..because of a "conflict" (Schreiber Diesles were threatening to pull out because of Terrace Bay, and some sponsorship issues). Hmmmm... I don't find it biased by any means... but I do find myself wondering how they jumped from the same label as SOAD to an indie label. It is cool article, I like it. I'd like to know more about the new album and how it is on an indie though. DMighton 20:54, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

They jumped from the label because the owner, Rick Rubin, (also producer of the 'War of Art' album didn't like their recent musical direction, so they parted ways. I'm not sure whether Cowards is official, but www.thefeeding.net is a good site for AHC info (check the interviews, this will shed light on why they changed labels). I've been mostly writing on behalf of a rock site called www.rockdetector.com so sorry for such a late reply. LuciferMorgan 20:17, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

To expand articles about locations, you may want to look at articles about large cities such as Toronto and Vancouver, and see what information is applicable to smaller towns and villages. You could also take a look at good articles about small towns, such as Dawson Creek, British Columbia - the major headings in that article are what you'd typically like to find for small-town articles.

As an aside, I've edited the Durham, Ontario article to remove multiple links to the same article. Only the first reference should link to the article; too many links makes it difficult to read the text. Also, you should probably not link to years or dates unless they have specific relevance to the subject.

Actually, I was wondering if you knew any way to find out Durham's Sea Level... I know it is not very high, it is at the bottom of a very deep valley and the town sits barely above the water table. DMighton 11:41, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

So far, I've found this (large PDF map), which suggests Durham is at an elevation of 325-375 metres above sea level. Keep in mind that Georgian Bay and most of the Great Lakes (except Ontario) are also above sea level.
To get a more accurate measure, you may want to check some geographical databases, such as the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Centre for Topographic Information, or Natural Resources Canada (see Geography section). Hi, I looked it up on the website. It said Rama, Ontario. I'm not sure if it is a real place or not, as there is no dot on the map that says Rama, however there is an Indian Reserve called Rama. Rama, Ontario is a community just outside of Orillia, Ontario. It's the home of the Chippewas of Mnjikaning First Nation. Their arena is called the "MASK" or 'Mnjikaning Arena Sports Ki' (Ki is an Ojibway word, I think meaning 'land', but I'm not certain on that). It is located at 6145 Rama Road, Rama, Ontario (very close to Casino Rama actually). One of the best on-line sources of info about the arena is The Ramakings Lacrosse team website. In particular, check out the community page and the arena page. I believe the Couchiching Terriers play in the MASK. Hey there. I did see that there were no articles for any of the teams in the AJHL. There are actually a lot of holes in the hockey information in Wikipedia. Even the AHL has quite a few teams missing, which has been a recent discussion in WikiProject Ice Hockey. By the way, come join in the discussion, as there are a few of us interested in hockey. [edit] Southern Ontario Junior A Hockey League & Ontario Hockey Association

Devan, I would like to discuss the linkages you make between teams in the SOJHL and the present OHL. In each case I believe that two teams of a similar name have been mistaken for one another.

  1. The Detroit Jr. Red Wings that played in the OHL from 1992-1995 came from renaming the OHL Detroit Compuware Ambassadors who played from 1990-1992. This fact is supported by the OHL guide book, and online at the Plymouth Whalers Website. Please explain your version of the forward linkage from the 1976 Jr. Red Wings in the SOJHL to the OHL team.
The 1976-77 Jr. Wings did in fact exist. It was the first year the Jr. Wings had left the SOJHL and entered the Great Lakes Junior A League. Jr Wing home ice was Olympia stadium and games were occasionally played in Waterford. A few key players in the league were Don Waddell (GM Atlanta Thrashers) Dean Turner, Tom Michalek, Reese Dobrick and Dan Lerg to name only a few. Goaltender Pete Wenzell was named to the first team All American Team and had strong support from defenseman Dave Feamster (Chicago Black Hawks)Ted Huesing, and prolific goal production from Darryl DiPace. The Jr Wings lost in the final round of the playoffs to Mike Illitch's Detroit Little Caesars in an overtime match when Don Waddell scored on a penalty shot on Pete Wenzell. Most players in the league went on to play at major Colleges Universities and in the professional ranks.

The Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters team (that eventually became the Kitchener Rangers) played in the OHA from 1947 to 1960, then became the Guelph Royals from 1960 to 1963, then becoming the Kitchener Rangers in 1963. This fact is documented at Ontario Hockey League History#OHA Timeline Please explain your version of the forward linkage from the 1972-75 Mad Hatters in the SOJHL to the OHL Kitchener Rangers.
  2. For the Niagara Falls Flyers, there are three completely separate franchises which share the same name. See Niagara Falls Flyers disambiguation page. The Flyers from 1960 to 1972 came from the Barrie Flyers and went to the Sudbury Wolves. The Flyers from 1976 to 1982 came from the St. Catharines Black Hawks and went to the North Bay Centennials. Please explain your version of the forward linkage from the 1972-75 Flyers in the SOJHL to the 1976-1982 OHA/OHL Flyers with moved to North Bay, then Saginaw.
  3. On the page Ontario Hockey Association you state the following:
Although the Ontario Hockey League was formerly called the Ontario Hockey Association, there is no correlation between the modern OHA and the OHL other than the fact that they are both under Hockey Canada.
This statement contradicts with the chronicled timeline at Ontario Hockey League History of how the OHA and OHL were at one time the same body that separated in 1980. Please state why you believe the two organizations are not correlated.

Detroit Jr. Red Wings - hmmm it is possible that there may be an error there. The Jr. Red Wings did exist in 1976, but it is possible that there is correlation between them and Compuware. It's sad, I haven't even thought of Compuware... Other than the fact that Mark Howe played for the Jr. Wings... I don't know much about the league.


Guelph Biltmore - I guess the team name is probably a sponsorship or owners name, if it is, then there is probably a linkage between the clubs, but as you say there is a good chance that the linkage doesn't go much deeper than that they shared the same ownership or sponsor.


Niagara Falls Flyers - It seems I was half asleep when I read the disambig. I thought it had said the team went to St. Kitts, not came from. So the "Flyers" moniker must have been a traditional name, the potential of them being a farm team is good, but again... now it seems that they may not be in direct franchise lineage.


The OHA - They are no longer correlated. In the pre-1980 OHA, what became the OHL was just a divisional leagues... like the present day OPJHL or Junior Development or Western Jr. C. The current OHA does not have any correlation with the OHL or CHL. I will highlight the points in my statement:
Although the Ontario Hockey League was formerly called the Ontario Hockey Association, there is no correlation between the modern OHA and the OHL other than the fact that they are both under Hockey Canada.
So again, there is no correlation between the MODERN OHA and the OHL.

If you want to create a template, cut and paste the same code for Template:OPJAHL to a blank article hypothetically called Template:new_name_goes_here (make sure Template: is capitalized as such) and change the league name at the top, the league logo, and the names of the teams. I wish I could help you with Quebec hockey, but I know little about it. Eventually I will write articles for all the QMJHL teams, many which stemmed from the QJHL (see Montreal Jr. Canadiens article). If you do find anything dating before 1969 I could use it later.

As far as Ontario I will be able to make random contributions to Jr A and Jr C teams that I know about, but that will be after i'm done with the OHL. Best of luck. Yes, nin.com does say that the release is an EP, but I thought the single infobox was better for a couple of reasons:

  1. EDIETS (the song) is a single off of With Teeth. The single infobox is better to catalog all the information relevent to the song as a single: what album it's from, how it's charted, etc.
  2. Wikipedia continuity considerations: every other NIN page which refers to a song and its accompanying release has the single infobox (March of the Pigs, "The Perfect Drug" Versions, etc.). I think it's better to keep everything formatted the same.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I care enough for a consensus vote. How about we find a way to use a single box that allows us to call it an EP instead of a single.... like the album box... I would like to find more information for teams such as the Cornwall Royals, Hull Festivals, and the series of Junior Canadiens teams that played in Ottawa, Hull, Brockville and Sherbrooke.   • Alrighty, I had a look around, it seems you've hit the Montreal Jr. Canadiens on the head. I also know that Guy Lafleur snubbed the Jr. Canadiens, he didn't want to be locked into a "C" Form at 16 years old -- it is in his biography.
  • You could probably note that Ottawa and Hull-Ottawa are the same team... the QHL folded in 1957, and that is why the Canadiens jumped to OHA Sr. and the EPHL. I tell you the info out there is skimpy though... just a couple stats and a couple noteable players... like Gilles Tremblay DMighton 08:14, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
  • For the 1957-1958 season their appears to have been a SENIOR Hull-Ottawa Canadiens team, and a JUNIOR Hull-Ottawa Canadiens team, both operating in the same year. I'm going to alter the Hull-Ottawa Canadiens article slightly so this is not ambiguous. Pending the results of the next three paragraphs!!!
  • Here is another dilemma I have encountered. I cannot find any record of the Montreal Jr. Canadiens between 1956 and 1960. Is it possible the team relocated?? This 4-year period is about the same time that the Ottawa Jr. Canadiens existed from 1957 to 1959, and the Brockville Jr. Canadiens who played for the Richardson cup in 1960 versus the OHA champions St. Catharines Teepees.
  • I think it is POSSIBLE, BUT NOT PROVEN that the following forward linkage occurred. ---->
Montreal Jr. Canadiens played until 1956.
then became the Ottawa Jr. Canadiens from 1957 to 1959.
then became the Brockville Jr. Canadiens in 1960
then became the Montreal Jr. Canadiens in the OHA for 1961 onward.

Do you have any info on this trophy? Maybe even a list of champions? Is it now officially a dead trophy? I've been working on Canada West the last couple days and have been chipping away at the Abbott Cup, and I am told that the Abbott Cup is not dead by the stats guy for the Vernon Vipers.... still awarded, even though it doesn't receive any press. I don't know anything about the Richardson Trophy after 1971. I would assume the list of Champions are the same as those competing for the Memorial Cup.
In 1922 the Fort William War Vets were grouped in the East, defeating Toronto Aura Lee to go to the Memorial Cup.

I see that you've been doing a LOT of work on the teams for younger players. I'll try to contribute whatever I can. I've been working to add the {{ice hockey}} tag onto article discussion pages, to flag them as part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey. Kind of boring grunt work, but gives me a chance to roam around through a lot of pages.

One resource that you may find useful is the Hockey Hall of Fame's http://www.legendsofhockey.net/ site. You can search for NHL alumni by the name of a team (and it includes junior teams!). Here's the link directly to that search. Player stats include the junior leagues.

[edit] Georgian Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League list of champs

I'm guessing it was you who added "If you know this league's champions, please help" to this page. Someone has stopped in and added a bunch of the champions for several years, but more are still missing. I sent an email to Mike Faulds, listed on their web page as the statistician, requesting the names of the league champ team for the missing years. Hopefully I'll hear back from him, and who knows? Maybe we'll recruit another wikipedian ice hockey person !!

Yeah... the only way I can get the championships or league standings myself is by contacting the league statisticians or driving 4 hours to Cambridge.... so I've been e-mailing stats guys too... current I am working at Jr. B... if you look at the Golden Horseshoe B or the Western B... you'll notice I have stats back to the seventies for any team that existed that far back...   • Personally, I am rather torn on the issue of the Hawks, and other Junior B teams. I somewhat agree with the nom (despite his obvious beef with the team/league/level of play), as I am not at all certain that teams at this level are notable enough. The one line stub doesnt help either. OTOH, I would hate to see the amount of work you have put into this project go to waste. The way this vote would go would obviously impact my future plans to create pages for the Heritage Junior B Hockey League and any others in Alberta that I choose to do. Unfortunately, I think that the best way to save these pages is to expand them to the point where they offer enough information to justify their existance. He has been riding my butt for the past 24 hours and he's been ranting like mad on the AfD page. Whenever anyone tries to talk to him, he is rude. No disrespect, but a lot of are getting tired of him and his "Kindergarden This, Pre-School That"... and his "yelling" on the AfD page. I'm sorry if saying "jerk" is taboo, but the guy has dissuaded much of his "Assumption of Good Faith" and I've told the guy I am through talking to him... at least until he opens his mind. Also, if read, the guidelines for cross-posting have been acceptably followed. It is my opinion that the following warning was not just and was disproportionate to the warning given to another user in the same situation who used the same technique to spread the word of an AfD -- both notices were issued by the same user. Thought you might like to know, I finally found enough information to build a useful stub article for the CJHL. Once I realized that it is operated by Calgary Minor Hockey, I finally found some information. I know that the arena in Okotoks where the AJHL Oilers and HJHL Bisons play has a "wall of fame" with a fair bit of historical information about the league.
