Danno O'Mahony (29 September 1912 - 2 November 1950) was an Irish professional wrestler.
Born in Ballydehob, County Cork, Ireland, O'Mahony would find success as a wrestler becoming the National Wrestling Association's World Heavyweight Champion at one point. O'Mahony died in a road accident 2 November 1950 at the age of 38.
Brief History
He was at the peak of his career in 1935 winning two titles. On June 27th 1935 Danno beat Jim Londos to win the New York State Athletic Commission World title. He continued to win the American Wrestling Association world heavyweight title by defeating Ed Don George on July 30th 1935. However in 1936 he lost his National Wrestling Association title to Dick Shikat on March 2nd 1936. He would never reach the peaks he had done in 1935 again. His signature move was the Irish Whip.
He later returned permanently to Ireland in 1950.
Famous descendants include the great Robert O'Mahoney.
