[edit] Career
Danie Brits made his ring debut for Interworld Wrestling Promotions (led by Sammy Cohen) in 1983 following a successful excursion in amateur wrestling and judo. He wrestled in a mask under the name Tornado in order to hide the fact that he was doing amateur wrestling at the same time (which was forbidden in those days). When he won the South African Heavyweight Title from Danie Voges in 1990 he unmasked and started using his real name [1][2]. The Tornado mask and gimmick was passed on to Steve Debbes.
Later in his career he wrestled for Universal Wrestling Federation, International Wrestling Federation and World Wrestling Professionals, winning the UWF's equivalent of the South African Heavyweight Title, South African Middleweight Title, and the WWP Tag Team World Title (w/ Ananzi)[3]. Brits is currently retired after a 20-year career.
