[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:HVBV_1977_pix_sm.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:HVBV_1977_pix_sm.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 04:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Voorhis
The problem is not your references; it's more that you, as a new user, aren't familiar with how WP works. Fundamentally speaking, this is an encyclopedia; this means that there are rules on sources, citations, and all sort of other policies and guidelines as to what is appropriate and what is not in an article.
Getting down to the article proper, I didn't remove any references, because there weren't any. Those references you added were not in the original article. Your listing of his works you claimed was incomplete; therefore what is there is a selection. Again, this is an encyclopedia - it's not meant to be an exhaustive resource. Books are generally more important than magazine articles, and some books in particular are more important than others.
We don't do "citations as author" so I'm probably going to remove that again. We usually use inline references, meaning that you need to cite whatever is in the article with at least a title and a page number or web address (see the cite link I gave you), and in the correct format.
All of the articles you wrote suffer from "information dump," meaning that that is what you did - you literally threw everything into the article you could find without consideration for importance or anything else. Voorhis' Masonic affiliations are unimportant, because they don't make him notable (see the link for more info), and are more precisely trivia, which we discourage. As you probably know, some Masons just about collect affiliations, especially if they are well-known. We also don't need to know every job Voorhis had ever had (especially since some overlapped, which is simply confusing). A listing of his hobbies and the 14 ham radio clubs he was in is also not terribly important.
There are fundamentals of Wikipedia you need to know, so I am also adding in our standard welcome message, which has links to things you should read as a new user. MSJapan (talk) 19:33, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
