CJRC is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Gatineau, Quebec (near Ottawa, Ontario).
Owned and operated by Corus Entertainment, it broadcasts on 104.7 MHz and on 1150 kHz with a daytime power of 50,000 watts and a nighttime power of 5,000 watts as a class B station, using a directional antenna with slightly different daytime and nighttime directional patterns in order to protect various other stations on that frequency - particularly CKOC in Hamilton.
The station has a news/talk format and is part of the Corus Québec (formerly Radiomédia) network which operates across Quebec.
The station was launched on June 3, 1968, [1] by Raymond Crepeau, Marcel Joyal, Robert Campeau and Gerard Moreau with the presence of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, as part of the Radiomutuel network. Originally its headquarters were at the Sparks Street Mall in Ottawa but were later moved in the old city of Gatineau in the 1980s after a stay on Belfast Road in Ottawa.
On November 24th, 2006 it was announced that CJRC will air on the FM band, on the frequency 104.7 starting Monday, April 16th, 2007 at 7 am Eastern Time. They will broadcast on both FM and AM band for a minimum period of 3 months. [2]
The change of frequency forced CHMY's transmitter in Arnprior, formerly on 104.7, to move to 107.7 FM.
