Castle Point is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It returns one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, elected by the first past the post system.
Covering the area of Canvey Island, it is normally a strong Conservative seat, although it fell to Labour once, in the 1997 landslide. Bob Spink re-won the seat in 2001, but subsequently defected to the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) on 22 April 2008 (becoming the first and so far only seat that UKIP has held in the House of Commons).
