Carriageway

A carriageway is a part of a road referring to the part that will technically carry vehicle traffic.

• the carriageway surface is called the pavement (roads)
• the carriageway construction is part of road construction.
• most major routes are technically dual carriageway
• markers on a carriageway divide it into traffic lanes.
