[edit] History
Candie's shoes are worn by celebrities and featured in television shows and movies. Candie’s award winning advertising is noted for its sexy but playful concepts. Candie’s girls include Shania Twain, Fergie, Pat Benatar, Cheyenne Kimball, Hilary Duff, Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, Destiny’s Child, Ashanti, Alyssa Milano, Dixie Chicks, Jenny McCarthy, Ciara, Michelle Trachtenberg, Samaire Armstrong and newly appointed in 2008, Hayden Panettiere. [1]
Candie’s was founded in 1981 with the now-famous, sexy, high-heeled, wooden-bottom slide, called the Candie. By the middle of the 1980s, sales of Candie’s slides soared to 14 million pairs. One quarter of American women owned a pair of Candie’s.
[edit] Philanthropy
In June 2001, Candie’s launched The Candie’s Foundation with the mission to educate America's youth about the consequences of teenage pregnancy. The foundation fuels a celebrity-driven, public-service announcement campaign that explains the consequences of teenage pregnancy, while educating and challenging America’s youth to make educated decisions about sex.
