I changed the ways ofwinning the game, because it was very wrong. Even if one person has the most pieces on the board, he can still lose. So I have changed it. Samphex 01:57, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Er.... how does one lose while still having the most pieces on the board? This is impossible in my understanding of the scoring system. --ND (talk) 23:36, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I guess in the four-colour game with two players it would be possible to win by using all the pieces of one colour, even if the sum total of both colours was less than the sum total of the opponent's colours. --12.29.193.101 (talk) 12:05, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox Image

I've restored the infobox image to the previous one, because:

• it provides a better view of the components and board,
• it gives a sense of the quality of the components (a significant aspect of this game, in particular), and
• it conveys more about the experience of play.

My view is that it is always better to provide an image that does these things and that one should always use a close up where possible. Game boxes and promotional photos like the one this replaces are the least useful images, except for games with many different types of components that are not easily captured in a single close up image. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on that. I'm going to replace the image with the original one, since that shows the consumer what they would see in a store, should they wish to purchase the game. I disagree. That may be what the "consumer [] would see in the store" -- if they were standing 10 feet away! -- but what they want to see is what the components look like up close and in play. And anyway, since when is this site about shopping? The other photo gives a better sense of the game, as a game. AmbientArchitecture 20:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

And if you'll notice, BOTH pictures are now in the article - the original one provides an overview, while the second is there to provide more detail. The image you added doesn't actually provide a better sense of the game - without the descriptive text in the article about gameplay (which that image is now right beside), it's just a closeup of the gameboard. And come to think of it: that image isn't the boardgame cover it claims to be, but is a promotional photo, probably taken from the company's website or an online retailer. AmbientArchitecture 21:31, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

What are the first 5 best moves?

There are no "five best moves".

[edit] Possible to have all the pieces on the board?

Had someone bring over a copy of travel blokus (the two color smaller board version). Got bored and tried to see if it would be possible for two players to have all their pieces on the board (since there are more spaces on the board than all the game pieces cover). After about 20 minutes of trying I couldn't quite get them all to fit using legal moves, but was 1 piece away. Not that anyone would ever do this in a normal game without playing cooperatively, but is it mathematically possible? Having never played/seen a full sized four color version, can that happen in a 4 color version? Gront 00:29, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure per the normal Blokus as I've only played a few times, but my little brother has a copy of Blokus Trigon (which I recommend over regular Blokus any day) and all four colors are able to fit on the board. 151.151.73.166 14:43, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes. Good call. I've been meaning to update the image with a "legal" one, but just haven't gotten round to it. Now I guess the clock is ticking. Next time the sun shines here (if ever) I'll post a replacement. AmbientArchitecture 18:36, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I've expanded the strategy section & added some other details. May be too much info for some tastes but the section as it stood was (1) kinda useless and (b) closely paraphrased/borderline plagiarism from the game review included in the links. --12.29.193.101 (talk) 18:17, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Just shortened the strategy section a little. I see it has an "original research" flag. The strategy info in there is fairly common knowledge/consensus among Blokus players; I have no idea if it is actually written down anywhere, though. & there's no standard terminology. --ND (talk) 23:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trigon Images

I took a screenshot of Blokus Trigon on Blokus Online, cropped it to 2 images: 1 with an empty board and 1 with the playing pieces. Apparently I don't know if it is ok to upload them. Currently the section does not have a description of the pieces or the dimensions of the board (I know I just edited it), so I was thinking a picture would be good. If anyone wants to produce a better looking image you are free to do (the screenshot didn't take much of my time). I just got started seriously editing, so please forgive whatever is not supposed to be happening. Ksg314 (talk) 11:48, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
