Its northern terminus is at the southern shore of Bull Shoals Lake near Diamond City, Arkansas, approximately 20 miles from Harrison, Arkansas. Its southern terminus is at the Louisiana state line near Lockhart, Louisiana, where the road becomes Louisiana Highway 558.
With the exception of the section north of Harrison, Highway 7 has been designated as an Arkansas State Scenic Byway.
