1997 - For the first time in 36 years, two doubleheader baseball games are played in the same city. The San Francisco Giants squared off against the New York Mets while 3,000 miles away, the Oakland Athletics faced the New York Yankees

Three thousand very short miles, I take it, or do I define "same" ideosyncratically? --♥ «Charles A. L.» 01:25, Apr 13, 2004 (UTC)

yeah, that has been bothering me for the last couple of months too ... have managed to rephrase it though to what I think it means. --VampWillow 10:33, 2004 May 11 (UTC)

B. Allan Benson?, NLRB Regional Director - Is this person rally important enough to appear onthis list? Googling found only a couple of entries that were't other wikipedia-type projects (and that is fewer that there are for me!). Proposal to delete therefore. --VampWillow 10:35, 2004 May 11 (UTC)

[edit] :D

This day is also my birthday! :D

It is also my birthday, however I don't know that Timothy Lee Forrest being born on this day in 1978 is of any note. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.61.46.60 ([[User talk:129.61.46.60|talk]]) 18:25, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

My apologies, I forgot to sign that statement. Still, I'm not sure that Timothy's birthday is notable. Does anyone have any objections to removing that entry? thryllkill 01:15, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Mark Speight under the death section; for one the body was only found on this date, he has been missing for 6 days - he didn't necessarily die on the day he was found. Secondly, whilst it is believed to be his body, as far as I am aware no formal identification has confirmed it is actually him. A tad pre-emptive? 137.73.88.101 (talk) 23:52, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Samoa Joe

What if I put he was the first Samoan wrestler to win the World Championship?

GUNIT0 (talk) 02:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Anyone winning a wrestling championship is not notable. It wouldn't matter if he was a three legged Samoan hermaphrodite. No events in wrestling are notable (except possibly an indoor attendance record). It is entertainment and it is scripted. Saying that someone winning a championship in wrestling is notable would be like saying that Dorothy melting the Wicked Witch of the West was a notable event. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 02:59, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

What if I put he was the first ever Samoan wrestler to win the World Championship? The link you sent me said the first black man to play in MLB is notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GUNIT0 (talkcontribs) 05:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

The MLB cannot be compared to wrestling. MLB is a real sport. Besides, the first Samoan to do anything would not be notable. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 14:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] April 13 Events

Hi i just noticed that you undid an edit of mine on the page April 13. It was an event in 2003 when 21 students were killed in a bus accident and it's well known to be the biggest car accident that has ever happened in Greece. Thank youSergiogr (talk) 15:17, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

The event that I removed here was removed for two reasons. First it is not a globally notable event. While the deaths of 21 students are tragic, it does not have global significance. The entry did not mention anything about being the biggest car accident in the history of Greece - and even if it had, I do not believe it would be globally significant. Second, the event was not supported in any of the linked articles. Entries must be verifiable and this is done by linking to existing articles that support the event. Have a look at WP:DOY and WP:DAYS for details. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 15:25, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Well said, i'll just give you some sites and if you had the time you assess its importance. http://www.seasyp.gr/lightacandle/news.htm is the page for the children. I have more links but most of them are in greek. Sergiogr (talk) 15:30, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi. This is kind of a death, but Bob Curry, NBC News correspondent Ann Curry's dad, died April 13, 2008. He doesn't have a wikipedia article, but I think we should put something like this on there:

Any input on that?? You can write about it here or at my user talk page. Thanks! Sha721 Sha721 (talk) 22:04, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

I can think of no scenario where that would be an appropriate entry. No article, no entry. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 22:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
