[edit] Proper spelling?
I've been finding conflicting information on the spelling of ahoge. In kanji its spelled 阿呆毛 (ahouge or ahōge) but in in the kana its often spelled アホ毛, あほげ or あほ毛 (all spelled ahoge). My Japanese isn't that good so I'm not sure but I'm guessing there is some rule or something where they shorten the vowel when combining words, kinda like making devoiced syllables voiced syllables (like Ka in kami becoming Ga in megami or Sa in san become Za in kazan). Anyone know for sure? Lando242 12:18, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- No, no need to look so far, it's simply that 阿呆 can be written aho or ahō in kana (as often with "vulgar" word, japanese tends to make the word as short as possible), and in particular is always written aho when the word is written in katakana. You can have a look on WWWWJDIC that show this. Eden 15:34, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hair styles vs. ahoge
I removed the link to Tenma Tsukamoto because she does not have ahoge. The pigtail like hair bits that she wears come from the sides of her head, ahoge come from the top and she wears hair bands to make them, real ahoge are (super?) natural.Lando242 00:40, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Nagisa Furukawa's hair antennae
Nagisa Furukawa's hair antennae does not count as ahoge. Look at the description at the top, and then look near the bottom. She has two hair antennae. Not ahoge. Removing Nagisa from list~. --azure talk × contribs 16:49, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Trying to find referances.
I've been looking around for sources but haven't come up with a whole lot. Most things Google turns up tend to be from comment sections and message boards or in Japanese. I have been able to dig up a few references and would like some people to go over them and see if they are usable, I know they are rather thin in the reliability department and are considered "rarely usable" by Wikipedia's standards. Also if anyone else has some potentially useful info please add a reply. Published info would be outstanding, like something from a book or magazine.
