1966 Gallaher 500

The 1966 Gallaher 500 was the seventh running of the Bathurst 500 touring car race. It was held on October 2, 1966 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst. The race was open to cars eligible to the locally developed CAMS Series Production touring car regulations with five classes based on purchase price (Australian dollars) of the vehicle.
[edit] Class structure[edit] Class AThe smallest class was for under cars the cost less $1,800. It was made up of Datsun 1300, Fiat 850, 1.2 litre Ford Cortina, Morris de Luxe and 850. [edit] Class BThe $1,801 to $2,040 class featured 1.5 litre Ford Cortina, Hillman Minx, Isuzu Bellett, Morris Cooper, Prince Skyline, Renault R8 and Toyota Corona. [edit] Class CThe $2,041 to $2,700 class was dominated by the Morris Cooper S, but also contained a Fiat 1500, and a Toyota Crown.
