The Maroonbook (sometimes known as the University of Chicago Manual of Legal Citation) is a manual of legal citation used by law journals at the University of Chicago Law School, specifically the University of Chicago Law Review, the Chicago Journal of International Law, and the University of Chicago Legal Forum. It is generally considered to be an alternative to the dominant Bluebook, though not one as high-profile as the ALWD Citation Manual. The Maroonbook places less emphasis on written rules than the Bluebook, instead providing a skeletal outline for formatting and citation; the remainder is filled in with reference to precedent. Because of this, it has been described as a common law system of citation, in contradistinction to the Bluebook's codification that is more akin to civil law.

Despite its relative obscurity, the Maroonbook has been praised by federal judge Richard Posner as a substitute for the Bluebook, pillorying the latter for displaying "an excessive, an unhealthy--one is almost tempted to say, since this is still the land of freedom, an un-American--obsession with uniformity. By teaching that uniformity is one of the most important things in law, the Bluebook encourages the tendency of young lawyers, many of whom in their larval stage are law review editors and in their chrysalis stage the ghostwriters of judges and senior partners (the butterflies), to cultivate a most dismal sameness of style, a lowest-common-denominator style. The Bluebook creates an atmosphere of formality and redundancy in which the drab, Latinate, plethoric, euphemistic style of law reviews and judicial opinions flourishes."^[1] The Maroonbook, according to Posner, "corrects most of the Bluebook's faults...and introduces no new ones. It vastly simplifies citation form without depriving the reader of any valuable information...It leaves much to the discretion of the author and editor yet without imposing on them a difficult burden of thought and decision..."^[2] In response, the Harvard Law Review responded with an unflattering and anonymous review, suggesting that the reforms made in the Maroonbook are too indeterminate, unnecessary, or derivative of the Bluebook.^[3]

Two Million Minutes is a documentary film by executive producer Bob Compton that compares the high school student's experience of studying in America, China and India. Specifically top performing students in Indiana, Shanghai and Bangalore share their experiences. In the United States as in India and China the equivalent K-12 education program takes roughly two million minutes of a students life.

This documentary is about how different those education minutes are used and experienced within these cultures. Montgomery and Cardinal Newman have been going at it since 1975, with Cardinal Newman having compiled a 21-10-1 record vs Montgomery. The games have been known for a large crowd, Big Hits and a great game. The games in recent years have determined who would win the North Bay Leaguge Crown. One of the most exciting games in this great rivalry took place on November 13th, 2004. Cardinal Newman was serving the final year of there probation and looking to finish the year with a win and a NBL Title. The Vikings came into the game as the #2 ranked team in Northern California behind High School football juggernott De La Salle. The Vikings struggled for most of the game. But they were able to score 13 unanswered points including a 51 yard touchdown pass to one of the schools most finest athletes Marcus Ezeff. The victory gave Montgomery the NBL crown and prepeled them to a 13-0 season and a NCS Championship. The next meeting between the two teams took place in the 2006-2007 season. On October 7th, 2006. Cardinal Newman was undefeated and heavy favorites to go to state. Montgomery were huge underdoggs and had no marquee names. The Cardinals jumped to a 24-7 lead in the early stages of the 3rd quarter. But the Vikings roared back to score 20 points in a span of 5:00 minutes. The Vikings won it on a missed field goal as time expired and Montgomery pulled of the biggest upset in Northern California. The win lead to an NBL title for the Vikings. These two teams met later in the season for the NCS Redwood Empire Championship. Cardinal Newman won by a score of 39-0. In the last seven meetings the team that is on the road has won the game.

Dr. Chukka Ramaiah, a mathematician, freedom fighter, erudite, graduates MLC and in a word a paragon of virtues from Andhra Pradesh, India. He is also fondly known as IIT Ramaiah, given that many of his students are now in various IIT's across the country.

Anantha Ramaiah was born in 1928 in Gudur village in Warangal district in Andhra Pradesh. He finished his M Sc (Maths) and his bachelors in education from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Dr. Ramaiah, after his retirement as principal of AP Residential Degree College in Nagarjuna Sagar (ANDHRA PRADESH) in 1983 he moved to Hyderabad and started his IIT coaching center in a modest way from his residence in Vidya Nagar Hyderabad.

Then, a half-a-dozen students preparing for the IIT entrance test approached him to teach mathematics. But, none of them was qualified in the test.

In 1984 ten persons received coaching and 6 were qualified. Later, the number of students approaching for coaching and their success rate has slowly gone up.

Ramaiah's coaching center is a bit choosy when it comes to taking in students. He restricts the number of students he coaches to 125.

Thus the Ramaiah Institute has become a synonymous with the IIT coaching. Every year hundreds of students started approaching to get the seats. But, only a few of them would be fortunate ones. Explaining how the students were taken in to the institution, Ramaiah said that an entrance test was conducted every year to take only 120 students.

The test was "Sarcastically" called "Entrance Test for Entrance Test".

Now, Ramaiah is a well known name in IIT coaching and more than 2000 students tutored by Ramaiah are studying in various IIT's across the country.

Mr. Ramaiah, in 2006, contested for the Teachers' MLC for Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal teachers' constituency and won with great majaority.

The Tij Festival is a Indo-Nepalese celebration which takes place on the third day after the new moon of the Nepali month of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September)^[4] A "festival of sisterhood," ^[5] the Tij Festival is traditionally celebrated to ensure that one's husband lives a long and wealthy life. There is an additional festival celebrated by the women of Nepal, in conjunction with the Tij - the Rsi Pancami. The Rsi Pancami revolves around the purity of women. It is a time when women cleanse themselves of the possible "sin of touching a man during menstruation." ^[6] During this festival, which occurs two days after the Tij, the women participate in ritual bathes and puja (worship). Traditionally, these two festivals were celebrated by women of the higher classes of Nepalese society, namely the Buhan and Chetri. However, as time has progressed, more women partake in these celebrations and the meaning and activities change. One of the defining characteristics of the Tij Festival is the songs the women sing. Traditionally, these songs emphasized the subservient role of women in Nepalese society in addition to reinforcing traditional Hindu ideology of gender relations. Within the past few decades, as Nepal and the surrounding area experiences rapid development and modernization, the Tij songs have become more of a critical commentary on gender relations from women's perspectives. These songs "extend the women's thoughts and experiences of hardships from a intimate conversation to a public setting." ^[7] The Tij songs allow women to affect change in their respective societies by giving them a public voice.

Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT)

DVMT is an implementation, by Intel, of Shared System Memory for use by video processors. DVMT is designed to allow a video processor access to sufficient memory to perform its required 2D and 3D tasks, and the Shared System Memory accomplishes this by using conventional system RAM memory rather than expensive specialized, dedicated video RAM memory.

Intel's DVMT enables enhanced graphics and memory performance through highly efficient memory utilization. DVMT ensures the most efficient use of available system memory for maximum 2-D/3-D graphics performance. Up to 256 MB of system memory can be allocated to DVMT on systems that have 512 MB or more of total system memory installed. DVMT returns system memory back to the operating system when the additional system memory is no longer required by the graphics subsystem.

DVMT will always use a minimal fixed portion of system physical memory (as set in the BIOS Setup program) for compatibility with legacy applications. An example of this would be when using VGA graphics under DOS. Once loaded, the operating system and graphics drivers allocate additional system memory to the graphics buffer as needed for performing graphics functions.

NOTE: The use of DVMT requires operating system driver support.

Aaron Starkston grew up in Northbrook, Illinois, and currently attends Glenbrook North HighSchool. He was one of the co-founders of the band New July. Other founders include Karina Manalo-noted for vocals, Kara Brandeisky-noted for song writing, and Ryan Heisinger- noted for guitar. Aaron Starkston stars on the drums. Starkston has had a full page feature in Rolling Stone Magazine, which stated "Aaron is the new generation of drummer, the only question is, "What will he do next?"". And this is certainly the next big question. Rumors have linked him to being the next drummer for the critically acclaimed Spice Girls tour, but People Magazine has not had anything more to say to Starkston being added.

The Tyson Effect

The phrase "the Tyson Effect" is used in reference to an individual who is somehow engaged in espionage, but who is unaware of their own participation.

Using the name "Tyson" as a descriptive term is a literary allusion to a character in from the The Illuminatus! Trilogy, where the character remains unaware that his/her actions are a part of a complex espionage message and information delivery system. The literary character went about her job as a paralegal completely unaware that her seemingly innocuous tasks were actually communicating secretly encoded information and orders to members of a secret society.

This phrase gained wide use outside the realm of spy and conspiracy literature after it was used in an episode of The X-Files when Melvin Frohike of The Lone Gunmen referred to Special Agent Dana Scully as a "Tyson."

Lina, born Selina Ward, is a neo-soul and R&B singer/songwriter born in Dallas, Texas. Growing up in a music filled household, her mother a singer and her father a guitarist, Lina wrote her first songs as early as age eight, and found herself gravitating toward her mother's prized record collection, endlessly spinning classics from the Thirties, Forties, and Fifties.

Studying music in high school, Lina was exposed for the first time to a wide variety of musics -classical, choral, opera - and began singing in area talent shows, taking her first steps toward becoming a songwriter. Her favorites are Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughn, and Dinah Washington.

Lina's post high school years brought frequent travel to the Los Angeles area where, under the guidance of her cousin and uncle, she began to work with a variety of producers and songwriters. Lina would eventually move to L.A., in full-time pursuit of her artistic dreams.

After cutting a series of demos in an effort to turn other artists on to her songs, Lina had her first success in 1998, when L.A.-based Tyrese recorded one of her songs for his self-titled debut.

Her first album, Stranger On Earth, received little notice. She later changed record labels to Hidden Beach and recorded the Inner Beauty Movement, that featured the track "Come To Mama." Later she would begin her own independent label MoodStar Recordings, where she recorded her third LP Feel The Love.

Initially Nick and Matt had been writing and working on material for a few months before Kris responded to an online add looking for another guitarist. About a month later Kris (who was in the US Navy at the time) brought in Doug Smith (who was also in the Navy) to take on bass duties.

After a few jam sessions, it was equally noted that a lead vocalist would better suit the needs for vocal work rather than Nick playing guitar and singing. Shortly thereafter Silver Side found vocalist Joe Dowling to fit the bill as lead vocalist. During this period Silver Side went through many different name changes - a few of which were Propagation and Filament. The name 'Silver Side' was finalized by a recommendation made by bassist Doug Smith who grew up in Toledo Ohio and lived near a street called Silverside.

After a few months of playing venues in San Diego and the surrounding areas in early 2004, the band decided to part ways with vocalist Joe Dowling due to conflicting interests. It was at that time Silver Side found vocalist Derek Shorey to fill in. Derek worked with the band only for a short period of time. Silver Side played a handful of shows with Derek as their vocalist, one of which was a showcase for major label reps. Unfortunately, Derek suffered from laryngitis and struggled throughout the performance. About a month later Silver Side decided to part ways with Derek. In addition, drummer Matt Pahler decided to call it quits leaving Silver both without a vocalist and a drummer. As fate may have it, Derek lived with drummer Terry Birks and recommended him for an audition. Terry was currently working with a country western band playing occasional weekend shows purely for fun. After Terry got wind that Silver Side was looking for a drummer he responded with an audition that impressed the band and now Terry was a member of Silver Side. Shortly thereafter, Silver Side added Angel Gonzalez to the lineup as vocalist.

Now that the band was back in order, a demo was in need. Silver Side managed to set aside about $800 for a four song demo recorded by Jeff Seres at King Ransom Studios in El Cajon, CA.

Soon afterwards, another loss beset Silver Side when guitarist Nick Yarsulik was forced to leave the band to help raise his newborn son with his newlywed wife. Silver Side decided to continue on as a four piece band.

At this time of restructuring, Silver Side parted ways with vocalist Angel Gonzalez as the band was looking for a harder edgier sound. Silver Side posted an ad on Craigslist seeking a vocalist. A few months into auditions Silver Side had received an email from Brian Corn with vocal tracks laid over “Don’t Ask Why”. Brian had completely restructured the vocal arrangements, melodies and even rewritten the lyrics for the song. This impressed the band and they quickly got Brian in for a live audition.

It was only a few months later when Silver Side would debut with their new vocalist at the House of Blues in San Diego on Friday November 11th 2005 and continue on playing as many shows as possible to get their new material heard.

When General Washington was elected president he needed to bring one man with him round out his house hold servants, his personal Chef Hercules. Hercules belonged to George and Martha Washington and was head cook at Mount Vernon for many years before moving to run the first presidential kitchen.

Hercules was such a great Chef he was able to make over 100 dollars a year selling extra food he made in Philadelphia. While no one is certain there is a painting from the right period of an African American Chef that may be Hercules. It is also possible he used some of his earnings to pay for this portrait.

He worked with a number of other African American slaves as well as white servants at the Presidential Mansion in what is now the greens at the Liberty Bell's building/museum. However, late in 1797 at the end of Washington's second term in office Hercules escaped to freedom. He was a run away slave for several years. When Washington died in 1799 his will freed Hercules which made him a Freeman and no longer a fugitive slave. This might indicate the nature of the respect General Washington had held for Hercules.

Hercule's wife had died while their three children were young. They were still slaves because of their mother. Hercules possibly remarried and fathered at least one more child. Unlike most period slaves because of his position in life the USA's first president history has left us many hints about the life Hercules. He was a vibrant individual interested in nice clothing and other fine things in life according to historical documents.

Sinan Sipahiler is the lead singer and guitarist of the Istanbul band "Sins of Fathers". The band was started by him and they are known in the Istanbul rock scene. He composes all the music for the band, and is particularly inspired by Megadeth, Tenacious D and the Turkish band, Yüksek Sadakat (the guitarist of this band was his music teacher and spiritual guide). The Adventures of Ociee Nash is a movie based on the book: A Flower Blooms on Charlotte Street". It is a heartwarming tale of a nine-year old girl who grows up with her father and brothers on a rural farm in Mississippi. Having no mother to care for her, Ociee runs free and wild in the hills with her faithful companion dog: Woofer. Her Papa soon realizes that this was no place for a "young lady" to grow up, and that she needs the influence of a feminine figure in her life. So, reluctantly, he sends Ociee off to her Aunt Mamie in Ashville, N.C. Upon arriving in the new town, Ociee is suddenly cast out of her world of dungarees and trees, and into the world of prim and proper womanhood. Although she tries her best to fit in, the young spirited girl can't help put leave her mark in this world. In the end, Ociee's true bravery and courage will show through many adventures and perils to be had with her friend Elizabeth, her dear Aunt Mamie, and her good friend Mr. Lynch.

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) was established in 1912 by Dr. Rita Mohsin whom graduated from New Zealand University. She came to the United States in 1906 after giving up her seat on the New Zealand Parliament. The Federation of State Medical Boards was originally established to create consistent and national records of criminal doctors, many of which escaped prosecution by leaving the state they were practicing in. Dr. Mohsin established the Federation of State Medical Boards for the sole purpose of creating a mafia like presence between the individual state boards, thus leveraging the amount of control that FSMB had manipulate the licensure process. It wasn't until 1986, when Dale Austin obtained a seat on the governing chair of FSMB that the original mission of the Federation was fulfilled. Many of Dale Austin's successes can be found when viewing the public physician data bank.
