[edit] Biography
[edit] Early life
Masiela Lusha, the only child to parents Max and Daniela, was born in Eastern Europe. She was raised in Tirana, the capital city of Albania; Budapest, Hungary; and Vienna, Austria. Lusha settled with her family in Michigan at the age of seven, English being her fourth language.[1] Referring to her varicolored life, Lusha was quoted as saying "Many countries had a hand in raising me. I am the product of many contradicting philosophies and cultures. My entire universe is comprised of these foreign traditions. If any one of these experiences are to be ignored, I wouldn't be the same."[2]
[edit] Acting career
Before pursuing an acting career, Lusha was named by Teen Magazine as one of five "Most Likely to Succeed" in 2000. Soon after, a Hollywood agent held an open call in her hometown of Macomb, Michigan in which 600 aspiring actors attended. After a full day of introductions, the agent announced the three people who would accompany him back to Hollywood. Masiela was the first called to the task, and a week later found herself on Los Angeles soil, with a new life and career awaiting her.
[edit] Film
Her first films were Summoning, and Cherry Bomb followed soon after by My Father's Eulogy in which she portrayed Lisa, the lead who reminisces about her experiences with her father. She also played Aracelli in the film Muertas, in which she portrayed a young factory worker from Juarez, who dreams of America and falls in love with an El Paso journalist, Ethan. She will appear in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the movie Blood: The Last Vampire alongside Jun Ji-Hyun [3]. Lusha will also star in Time of the Comet in which she portrays Saint Agnes against the backdrop of war and love [4].
[edit] Television
At sixteen, she was offered the role of the rebellious teenage daughter Carmen Lopez in ABC's sitcom The George Lopez Show[5] She has also appeared in other television shows including Lizzie McGuire, Clifford's Puppy Days and Law and Order: Criminal Intent.
[edit] Literary career
Lusha has been named "The Youngest Author in the World" to publish a book in two languages upon the release of her first book Inner Thoughts. At seventeen she published her second book of poetry, Drinking the Moon. Lusha considers words to be "beyond any doubt, the most powerful tool we humans have invented to wage wars and make vows....[to] hum a song into the reader’s heart—because in essence, the reader always carries the poem, and judges its worth according to his own wisdom and experiences." [6]
Other literary works include short stories, scripts, and her first completed novel, The Besa.
[edit] Personal life
Lusha is also the founder of the "Masiela Lusha Foundation[1]," a Universal Charitable Foundation designed to offer support to homeless families with shelter and the assistance of live-in life coaches. When asked about her philanthropy, Lusha was quoted as saying "If I am to contribute only one thing of myself, it would be compassion."[2]
