SE23 is a postcode district in the SE postcode area of London, England.[1]

The postcode district is part of the LONDON post town.[1] Sectors 1, 2 and 3 are in use.[1] There are no dependent localities used in the postcode district.[1] The numbered district was
created in 1917 and was originally designated as the Forest Hill postal district.[2] Before then it had been included in the SE postal district. There has been no significant recoding of the district from 1990 to 2007.[3]
There are Post Office branches in the district at Dartmouth Road, Brockley Rise and Stanstead Road.[4] The old postal delivery office has a locally listed frontage with a carving of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom on the portico. The new delivery office is in a modern building on an industrial estate located off Perry Vale.

The postcode district has a population of 31,279 in 13,950 residential properties and the greatest number (55.9%) of the properties are flats.[5] The population density is 69.8 people per square kilometre. The average age of residents is 34.[5]

The postcode district is mainly within the London Borough of Lewisham, with small parts to the north around Honor Oak and west around Dulwich in the London Borough of Southwark. It includes Forest Hill, Perry Vale and parts of Lower Sydenham and Honor Oak Park.[6]
