Linda Frohlich also spelled Linda Fröhlich (born June 23, 1979) is a German professional basketball in the WNBA.

Considered the best women’s player in Germany, Fröhlich enters her fifth WNBA training camp and first in Indiana. She is a versatile power forward and her game has improved during the past two seasons overseas in Italy and Russia. She wears number 13 on Sacramento Monarchs

Linda Fröhlich was born on June 23, 1979 in Pforzheim in Southern Germany, where she lived for the first four years of her life. After that her parents bought a house in the northern part of the country. She spent her childhood in a Mayberry-type existence: playing outside, gardening, taking care of a menagerie of pets.

She is the eldest of five children, three sisters and a brother. Linda didn't start off playing basketball, her mother strongly discouraged it. Only after Linda failed in ballet, judo, did she allow her to begin play.

Linda made history when she became the first UNLV basketball player to be drafted in the WNBA. She was the first draft pick of the New York Liberty in 2002, (26th overall). Waived during training camp with Phoenix Mercury in 2004. Waived by the Charlotte Sting at the end of training camp in 2005. Signed as a free agent by the Indiana Fever on November 2, 2006. Signed as a free agent by the Sacramento Monarchs on May 4, 2007.

Linda has played for Fenerbahçe Istanbul (2006-2007) and Spartak Moscow (2005-06). In 2007 she joined Taranto Cras Basket which is leading the Italian championship as of March 24, 2008 but where eliminated in the quarter finals of the EuroCup by Ramla.

Frohlich has become a fan favorite among the blue-and-yellow fans of Fenerbahçe Istanbul.

"At the last game before Christmas break, the fans of Fenerbahce caught me off-guard as they crowned me as their "Queen." At the ceremony, they went ALL OUT! I had a crown, I had a song, and I had a "throne" wrapped in a German flag. Absolutely crazy, but you've just got to love the fans here at Fenerbahce. "

Before Linda came to the States, she had received some national and international awards, where she calls the following her personally most valuable:

  • Topscorer of the European Championships in 1994
  • All-Tournament Team of the European Championships in 1994
  • Won the German youth national championship in 1998 on the homecourt (SC Rist Wedel).

She recorded her saddest memory with the day that she was cut from the German national team in 1998, while they were getting ready to participate in the world championship.
