Along with fellow Netherland countrymen Peter "Mr. K-1" Aerts and Ernesto "Mr. Perfect" Hoost, Bonjasky has won two WGPs in a row. As of 2006 no K-1 fighter has won three WGPs in a row.
Bonjasky's wins in the tournament would continue his seven fight win streak started in the 2003 WGP.
