Josip Šimić (born September 16, 1977) is a Croatian football striker, currently a free agent. He made his international debut against Poland in the 4-1 win at Vinkovci on 22 April 1998. He has made seven appearances for the Croatia national football team, scoring one goal, in a friendly against Mexico on 16 June 1999.
In 1993 Šimić started his football career in the Croatian capital, where he won three consecutive national championships with Dinamo Zagreb (formerly Croatia Zagreb) from 1997-2000.[1] After the third of these, he left his homeland to play in Belgium for Club Brugge before going on to play in the national leagues of Greece, Korea and Austria.
He returned to the Prva HNL, signing for Varteks as a free agent, having left previous club FC Kärnten on expiry of his contract in June 2006. After many injury problems and only few appearances he left Varteks in summer of 2007. Currently he is a free agent and his future in professional football is undefined, mostly because of trouble regaining fitness after many injuries suffered during his career.
