Jim Barron (born October 19, 1943 in Tantobie, County Durham) is an English former footballer.

He played as a goalkeeper, turning out for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea, Oxford United, Nottingham Forest, Swindon Town, Connecticut Bicentennials and Peterborough United during a 20 year professional career.

He is a first-team coach at Northampton, and was appointed as joint caretaker manager on December 20, 2006, following the resignation of John Gorman^[1]. He had served a similar role in 2001, alongside Mick Mills at Birmingham City.

On January 2, 2007, Northampton announced that former Southampton boss Stuart Gray had been appointed as the new manager on a 2 and half year contract, caretaker managers Ian Sampson and Barron will stay on as first team coaches.
