Hamilton Park Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue in Scotland to the south of Glasgow. Racing has been staged in Hamilton since 1782 and the present course dates from 1926. In 1947 it became the first racecourse in the United Kingdom to stage evening racing. The course went through financial difficulties in the 1950s and 1960s and in 1973 ownership was transferred to a trust, which ploughs back all profits into developing the course. Hamilton Park is a flat racing venue, with a season which runs from April to September.
