Colin Appleton (born March 7, 1936 in Scarborough) is a former footballer who played as a wing-half. Appleton played over 300 games for Leicester City during a 12 year period, later playing for Charlton Athletic and Barrow, before joining Scarborough as player-manager. He went on to manage Hull, Swansea and Exeter City. He played in the 1961 FA Cup Final against Tottenham Hotspur, managed by fellow 'Scarborian' Bill Nicholson. The Spurs side also contained Malton-born Terry Dyson. During the 1970s, whilst manager of hometown club Scarborough FC, he led them to four FA Trophy finals, in which the team were winners on three occasions, a record at the time.
